• Green fluorite is a variety of fluorite, a mineral made of calcium fluoride (CaF₂).

• It is known for its green colour, which can range from very pale mint to deep emerald green.

• The colour is caused by trace elements and natural defects in the crystal structure, rather than inclusions.

• Fluorite commonly forms well-shaped cubic or octahedral crystals, though it is also found in massive pieces.

• Green fluorite is usually transparent to translucent and has a glassy (vitreous) surface.

• It is softer than quartz, with a hardness of about 4 on the Mohs scale, so it scratches more easily.
  

• Some green fluorite can glow under ultraviolet (UV) light, a property known as fluorescence.

• Green fluorite is found in many parts of the world, including China, Mexico, South Africa, Spain, and the United States.
