When found together, the dark red of Garnet contrasts beautifully with the shimmering bronze of Astrophyllite, creating a striking combination that’s both earthy and celestial in appearance.
Astrophyllite
Appearance: Usually bronze to golden-brown, with metallic, radiating star-like blades — its name comes from the Greek "Astro" (star) and "Phyllon" (leaf).
Composition: A complex titanium silicate mineral, often forming within granitic or syenitic rocks.
Hardness: Around 3–4 on the Mohs scale — relatively soft, so best handled gently.
Garnet
Appearance: Deep red is most common (Almandine or Pyrope varieties)
Composition: A group of silicate minerals — most commonly iron, magnesium, and aluminium garnets.
Hardness: Around 6.5–7.5 on the Mohs scale — durable and ideal for jewellery.
