Herkimer Diamonds, high quality, brilliant clarity and no visible inclusions. Super sparkly mini specimens! 2.5gm bag

Our genuine Herkimer Diamonds have been hand selected and imported by us directly from Little Falls, New York, close to the world-famous Herkimer County deposits where these remarkable crystals have been treasured for millions of years.

Although they are known as "diamonds" because of their exceptional brilliance and natural faceting, Herkimer Diamonds are in fact a rare variety of double-terminated quartz crystal, prized for their remarkable clarity, symmetry, and sparkling appearance.

These unique quartz crystals began forming around 500 million years ago within cavities in the ancient Cambrian-age dolostone that underlies the region. Rich in silica, mineral-laden fluids slowly crystallised over millions of years, allowing the quartz to develop freely within open pockets of rock. Because the crystals were not attached to a surrounding surface as they grew, they naturally formed with points at both ends—a feature known as double termination. Our Herkimer Diamonds are exceptionally transparent with a brilliant, glass-like lustre.

With a hardness of 7.5 on the Mohs Hardness Scale, Herkimer Diamonds are harder than most other quartz varieties (which are typically rated at 7), making them durable enough for jewellery while still requiring reasonable care to avoid chipping or scratching from harder minerals. Their exceptional clarity, natural geometric form, and fascinating geological history have made them highly sought after by collectors, jewellers, and crystal enthusiasts around the world. Every Herkimer Diamond is a unique piece of Earth's ancient history, shaped over hundreds of millions of years and preserved within the dolostone of upstate New York until carefully unearthed.
